Apple has launched the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, two key models in the latest iPhone 16 series. These devices come with notable design changes and upgraded features, making them a worthy successor to their predecessors. Both models also bring Apple Intelligence, an AI-powered feature previously reserved for Pro models.
The iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus continues with a 6.7-inch display. Both screens offer a 60Hz refresh rate, maintaining the Dynamic Island feature, which houses the 12 MP TrueDepth camera with auto-focus and Face ID integration.
In terms of design, the dual-camera system has been redesigned with a new vertical alignment on the rear. The camera system features a 48 MP Fusion Camera with f/1.6 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), and phase detection autofocus (PDAF). It also supports 2x telephoto zoom by cropping the main sensor. The secondary camera is a 12 MP ultra-wide lens with a 120° field of view and macro photography capabilities.
Apple has introduced two new buttons in the iPhone 16 series. The Action Button replaces the traditional alert switch, allowing users to customize specific functions, while the Camera Button is a capacitive touch area below the power button, offering quick access to the camera.
Powered by the A18 chip built on a 3nm process, both models feature a 5-core GPU and a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that handles advanced AI tasks. The introduction of Apple Intelligence brings a range of AI-driven features, such as AI-assisted messaging responses and enhanced Siri voice recognition.
Both models offer storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The battery capacity has been slightly increased from previous models, with support for faster 30W wireless charging via MagSafe.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are available in White, Black, Ultramarine, Teal, and Pink, with a glass back and aluminum frame. Both models are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance.
