Nearly a year has passed since Baldur’s Gate 3 officially launched from Early Access. Despite its release, Larian Studios continues to deliver regular updates to this critically acclaimed game, which has garnered numerous “Game of the Year” awards in 2023.
Recently, the developers revealed several new features coming in the seventh patch scheduled for September. The standout addition in this upcoming update is the split-screen co-op mode for players who want to team up in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The split-screen feature will offer both classic and dynamic options. In dynamic mode, the screen will merge back together when the controlled characters come close to each other.
However, given that Baldur’s Gate 3’s co-op mode supports up to four players, it remains unclear if the split-screen feature will extend to sessions with more than two players.
Update: Evil Playthrough Enhancements and Official Modding Toolkit
Alongside the split-screen feature, the developers also announced additional cutscenes, dialogues, and interactions for Dark Urge players or those aiming for an evil ending. Bug fixes related to Dark Urge content will also be included.
Moreover, Larian provided an update on the development of the official modding toolkit, which is being created in collaboration with several community modders. The current capabilities of this official modding tool include:
- Items
- Cosmetics
- Classes and Subclasses
- Races
- Dice Skins
- User Interface
- Quality of Life Improvements
