The news came during Capcom’s NEXT showcase, where the developer simply stated, “We’re making a new Resident Evil.” This phrasing leaves some ambiguity as to whether this is a brand new installment in the numbered series (Resident Evil 9) or a remake of a past title. Regardless, with Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi at the helm, fans can expect a terrifying and potentially innovative experience.
Details about the game’s plot, characters, and setting are still under wraps. However, considering Nakanishi’s past work, a return to a more first-person perspective or a focus on psychological horror wouldn’t be out of the question.
