Apple’s iOS 18.1 Beta 3 has brought a few new features, but the Clean Up tool is still giving users a headache. Meant to automatically clear out unnecessary files and free up storage, the feature just isn’t working as expected, according to beta testers.
A lot of users are finding that it’s not really cleaning up as much as it should—leaving behind chunks of useless data. Even worse, some folks have reported that the tool is flagging important files as junk, which could lead to accidental deletions if you’re not careful.
On top of that, the tool can be painfully slow, sometimes stalling halfway through or just not completing the clean-up process. This has been super frustrating, especially for those counting on it to free up space quickly.
Apple has acknowledged similar problems in earlier betas, but it seems like they still haven’t ironed out all the kinks. With the full release of iOS 18.1 coming soon, users are hoping for a more reliable version of the Clean Up tool.
For now, if you’re on the beta, it might be safer to manage your storage manually or use a third-party app until Apple sorts things out.
