Falcom to Announce New Game Remake Project This Year

Discover Falcom's latest game remake project confirmed by president Toshihiro Kondo. Details to be revealed before the end of the year.

In early 2024, Toshihiro Kondo, president of Nihon Falcom, confirmed that his team is developing a remake of one of their classic games. Although the specific title hasn’t been revealed yet, Kondo recently announced that fans can expect detailed information about the project before the end of this year.

This announcement was made during an interview with Noisy Pixel at Anime Expo 2024. The interview also included exciting news for fans, such as the English version of Trails through Daybreak II, which is scheduled for an early 2025 release, much sooner than anticipated. Additionally, the English localization of Ys X Nordics is set to release in October this year, adding to the excitement.

Returning to the remake project, there are numerous speculations about which game is being remade. One popular theory among fans is that it could be Ys V, the only game in the series that hasn’t yet been remastered or re-released for modern platforms. Kondo mentioned that many staff members at Falcom have a deep love for this game, which motivated them to join the company.

Considering Kondo’s comments, it seems plausible that the remake could be a game with significant reputation. Our guess leans towards the original Trails in the Sky series. As the debut title of the Trails franchise, a remake would provide a more accessible entry point for newcomers to the series.
