Huawei has officially surpassed Apple in tablet sales in China, according to a report by Canalys. This marks a major milestone for Huawei, as it now leads the tablet market in its home country, a position Apple held for quite a while.
According to Gizmochina, Canalys reported that Huawei’s tablet shipments hit an impressive 20.5 million units in Q2 2024, dominating the market with a 26% market share. This is a remarkable 66% increase compared to the same period last year, showcasing Huawei’s strong performance in the tablet space.
Huawei’s growth is driven by its diverse lineup that caters to various price segments, making it easier for users to find a model that suits their needs. The integration of HarmonyOS across Huawei’s devices has also been a game-changer, offering seamless cross-device connectivity, which has attracted more users.
Meanwhile, Apple still has a strong hold on the global tablet market, but its sales in China have taken a hit. The rise of local competitors like Huawei, with their more competitive pricing and tailored features, has made things more challenging for Apple in the region. Although the iPad continues to dominate the premium segment, Huawei’s strategy has clearly paid off.
This shift highlights Huawei’s resilience in the face of global restrictions and its focus on dominating the local market. With competition heating up, it’ll be interesting to see how Apple responds to reclaim its lead in one of the world’s biggest tech markets.
