Intel NUC Closes Shop, ASUS Unveils ASUS NUC Lineup

In a significant development, ASUS has officially introduced its ASUS NUC product line on September 1st, a domain formerly dominated by Intel. The announcement reverberated through ASUS North America’s Twitter account.

As some may recall, Intel made the decision to discontinue its Intel NUC product line back in mid-July, attributing the move to a substantial decline in demand for these particular series. Now, ASUS has stepped into the arena, indicating its intent to carry forward the legacy of compact PCs.

The ASUS NUC series encompasses a wide array of NUC PCs and computing components powered by Intel processors, catering to the diverse requirements of users. These ASUS NUC offerings can be perused on the official ASUS website, encompassing 4×4 systems suitable for small office/home office (SOHO), business, gaming, edge computing, and professional applications.

ASUS remains committed to providing NUC computing components tailored for commercial and specialized applications. Notably, all the ASUS NUC systems featured on the company’s website are now equipped with Intel’s 13th-generation Core ‘Raptor Lake’ processors.

However, there’s still some ambiguity surrounding ASUS’s stance on extending support to systems reliant on previous-generation CPUs, especially for business clients seeking enduring support for the Intel NUC systems they’ve been relying on.

In a curious juxtaposition, visitors to the ASUS NUC website may notice that certain images still bear the Intel brand, while ASUS NUC products themselves seem to have shed any overt ASUS branding.

The transition of the NUC business from Intel to ASUS was a collaborative effort, conducted under a non-exclusive licensing agreement. Consequently, the door remains open for other manufacturers to potentially craft products bearing the NUC brand.

Nevertheless, ASUS seems poised to spearhead the NUC business, boasting the capability to orchestrate this endeavor on a substantial scale, marking a pivotal moment in the NUC’s evolution.
