Meta has been actively developing its AI capabilities across nearly all its platforms, including their messaging app, WhatsApp. Recent reports indicate that they are working on a new way to interact with Meta AI on WhatsApp—via voice.
WhatsApp Users Can Send Voice Messages to Meta AI
In the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.16.10, it has been revealed that users can send voice messages directly to Meta AI. Screenshots show a button for sending voice messages in the user interface when opening the chat with Meta AI. This is an upgrade from the previous method, which only allowed text interactions.
While the option to interact with AI via voice is not entirely new, as competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini have already introduced similar features, Meta’s addition of this functionality is seen as a step to stay competitive.
Limited Availability for Now
Currently, this feature is only available to a select group of users in the beta version on Android. However, Meta plans to expand access to more users in the near future. Unfortunately, there is no clear timeline for when this feature will be publicly released. Until then, we will have to wait patiently for further updates.
