Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL: Same Awesome Features, Different Screen Sizes

Google has added two new stars to its Pixel 9 lineup: the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL. They’re pretty much the same under the hood, but the main difference is the screen size, so you can pick the one that fits your style best.

The Pixel 9 Pro comes with a 6.34-inch LTPO OLED display, Full HD+ resolution, and a peak brightness of 2,050 nits. If you want a bigger screen, the Pixel 9 Pro XL steps up with a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display, boasting a resolution of 2992 x 1344 pixels and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Both screens support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, so they’re durable and easy on the eyes.

Both models also feature an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor that works twice as fast as the older optical sensors, making unlocking your phone quicker and more secure.

When it comes to cameras, both the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL are identical. They pack a triple-camera setup with a 50MP main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 58MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens with OIS and 5x optical zoom. Video recording is now upgraded to 8K at 30fps, and the front-facing camera has a nice boost to 42MP for those sharp selfies.

Under the hood, both phones run on Google’s Tensor G4 chip, which includes a CPU with 1x Cortex-X4, 3x Cortex-A720, and 4x Cortex-A520 cores, maxing out at 3.1GHz. They also come with Google’s Titan M2 security chip and the new Exynos 5200 modem for better efficiency and connectivity.

In terms of memory and storage, you’re looking at 16GB of RAM on both models, which means they’re ready to handle multitasking and demanding apps. Storage options range from 128GB up to a whopping 1TB, so you’ll have plenty of space for all your stuff.

Battery life is a bit different due to the screen sizes: the Pixel 9 Pro has a 4,700mAh battery, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL comes with a larger 5,060mAh battery. Both support fast charging at 45W, so you can top up quickly when needed.

Software-wise, both models run on Android 14 and come with Google’s Gemini AI features like Magic Eraser, Best Take, and Pixel Studio. They’re also set to get seven years of OS updates, and the Pixel 9 series will be the first to get Android 15 when it’s released.

In a nutshell, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL offer the same high-quality experience, with the only major difference being screen size. Whether you go for the more compact Pro or the larger Pro XL, you’re getting a powerful, feature-packed smartphone that’s built to impress.
