Understanding what goes on behind the scenes in game development isn’t easy. This often leaves us gamers scratching our heads over some of the decisions developers and publishers make, which can seem totally irrational.
One such case is the ambitious project intended to bring Prince of Persia back into the spotlight—Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. It was initially handled by Ubisoft India, but for reasons that were never fully explained, it was handed back to the original creators at Ubisoft Montreal, who now need more time to finish it.
Ubisoft’s plan to not only bring the remake back to Ubisoft Montreal but also restart the development from scratch to meet their high standards has resulted in an inevitable delay. Even with Ubisoft Toronto stepping in to help, the process hasn’t sped up as much as we’d hoped. A recent teaser, showing just a lit candle, confirmed that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is now set to launch in 2026.
