Sad news for fans: Nicholas Kole confirms that both Project Dragon and Crash Bandicoot 5 have been canceled.

Numerous characters have become icons on the PlayStation platform, with Crash Bandicoot being one of the most beloved. Unfortunately, there is sad news regarding this legendary character.

Crash Bandicoot, a character owned by Activision Blizzard, is now under Microsoft’s umbrella. Many fans hoped this iconic Sony character would make its way to Xbox or PC, along with Spyro.

However, this hasn’t come to pass. The game’s developer, Toys for Bob, has been released from Microsoft and has since become an independent studio, casting further doubt on the future of these two characters.

Nicholas Kole shared this disappointing news on his personal Twitter account, revealing that Crash Bandicoot 5 had been rejected or canceled some time ago.

Nicholas tweeted about the cancellation of his game project, “Project Dragon.” Many fans speculated this was the latest Spyro game and were saddened by the news.

However, Nicholas clarified that it wasn’t Spyro, and the greater heartbreak was for Crash Bandicoot fans who learned that the fifth installment of the series wouldn’t be happening.

Details About the Canceled Game

Nicholas Kole did not provide further details about the canceled game. It’s likely that this game was either pitched or in development by Toys for Bob before they became an independent studio.

It remains unknown how far along the game was in its development or whether it was canceled during development or merely as a pitched idea that was never fully greenlit.

The rights to Crash Bandicoot remain with Activision Blizzard, and with the last release in 2023, there’s a possibility the series could be revived. However, no one knows when Crash will embark on another adventure.
