Realme’s Revival of Periscope Telephoto Smartphones

Back in May 2020, Realme shook up the smartphone scene with the Realme X3 SuperZoom, a device that showcased the remarkable capabilities of periscope telephoto cameras. However, since that groundbreaking release, Realme has remained conspicuously absent from the realm of smartphones equipped with telephoto cameras, be they of the conventional or periscope variety.

Recent developments have ignited curiosity, as Realme released a teaser image hinting at their return to the periscope camera arena. The teaser image features a circular camera module adorned with two circles and one rectangular shape. The two circles likely signify the primary camera and the ultrawide camera, while the rectangular module strongly hints at the presence of a periscope telephoto camera. This rectangular form aligns with the typical design seen in smartphones that employ periscope camera technology.

For now, Realme has chosen to keep details regarding the camera and the smartphone itself closely guarded. However, they did accompany the image with a caption that subtly challenges the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the phrase “Not Only Max can Zoom.”

It’s worth noting that Apple recently introduced periscope camera technology in their latest iPhone, the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This addition boasts a 12MP periscope camera sensor capable of achieving optical zoom of up to 5x.

Speculation in the tech world points to the mysterious smartphone in question possibly being the Realme GT5 Pro, rumored to come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and a formidable 64MP telephoto camera. Nevertheless, it’s essential to remember that these are still unverified rumors, and we eagerly anticipate the official unveiling to provide concrete details
