The modding community has always been a vital part of the GTA franchise, breathing new life into the game, particularly with GTA Online. Rockstar, the developer behind the series, has even shown strong support for modders, as seen in their acquisition of the GTA Roleplay modder group, “Cfx.re,” last year.
It seems this friendly approach towards modders will continue with GTA 6. Publisher Take-Two, responsible for bringing the game to market, has expressed their excitement about the potential for new GTA mods.
Take-Two’s Enthusiasm for GTA 6 Modding
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, was asked about his views on modding and user-generated content. Zelnick expressed that the company is very open and genuinely excited about what users contribute to the games they develop and other titles.

“Clearly, we are very excited about what we see in modding for the community, for GTA, and we think it’s fascinating. Ultimately, an entertainment company must deliver outstanding entertainment to consumers. That’s the starting point.”

However, Zelnick also mentioned that while user-generated content is significant, he doesn’t believe it will dominate the gaming industry. He noted that platforms like Roblox, which serve more as a platform than a traditional digital entertainment title, are exceptions.
Nevertheless, the CEO affirmed that if players want to enhance and expand GTA 6 for personal use, Take-Two will support it while ensuring their assets and intellectual property are well-protected.
The year 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated for gamers eagerly awaiting the release of the new GTA title. Grand Theft Auto 6 is confirmed to launch in the fall of next year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
