It’s no secret that despite the criticism, Ubisoft is still considered one of the “kings” of live-service games in the industry. From competitive games like Rainbow Six: Siege to For Honor, they have also managed to keep their “single-player” games with multiplayer content like The Division supported and talked about to this day.
For the latter, in addition to the main series, Ubisoft had also planned two separate projects – The Division Resurgence and The Division Heartland – aimed at different markets. Unfortunately, for the latter, it is confirmed that it will never come to fruition.
Three years since it was announced, Ubisoft has come with bad news. They have decided to cancel The Division Heartland, which was speculated to be almost finished. They made the decision to divert existing resources to games with better chances. Ubisoft plans to direct the talents of the team – Red Storm Entertainment – to support games like Xdefiant and Rainbow Six. There is no further information on how far the development process has progressed.
The Division Heartland was initially planned as a free-to-play game with a beta period that had also been held. How about you? Disappointed with this decision or happy?
