Unique Gacha Animation for S-Rank in Zenless Zone Zero

Discover the unique gacha animation for S-Rank draws in Zenless Zone Zero, including special music variations and encouraging lyrics. Learn about these details in our latest article.

From the multitude of gacha games released to date, most feature a brief animation when players draw gacha for a character or item. Zenless Zone Zero, the latest game from miHoYo, is no exception.

Players familiar with miHoYo’s previous games recognize the indicators for rare character or weapon draws, often represented by a gleaming golden object. Zenless Zone Zero continues this tradition but also categorizes rarity levels with letters like S, A, and B.

Interestingly, Zenless Zone Zero introduces a slight animation difference when players obtain S-Rank Agents or W-Engine (the game’s terms for characters and weapons). When this happens, the animation showcases a complete film reel (third segment), accompanied by a slight shake and a golden sparkle around it.

If the sparkle is missed, another indicator appears when the animation quickly displays a television with A, B, S ranks. If this quick sequence doesn’t play, the player hasn’t secured an S-Rank. You can see a detailed demonstration in a video compilation by YouTuber KyostinV.

Gacha Music with a Twist

One notable aspect is the music that plays upon securing an S-Rank, featuring the same tune but with added hip-hop vocals. There are male and female versions, both sharing the same lyrics.

A humorous detail in the lyrics includes the line: “Lucky? or not, at least you tried, Chin up, in yourself, confide,” which seems to encourage players not to be disheartened by a 50:50 rate off or if they don’t get the desired S-Rank Agents or W-Engine. The lyrics subtly suggest a sense of gratitude.

As an additional note, prior to Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail also featured a slight animation difference for five-star character or weapon draws, with a blurred and diplopia (double vision) effect on the ticket’s appearance.
