Wireless Charging in BMW Vehicles May Disrupt NFC Chips in iPhone 15

If you own an Apple iPhone 15 and also happen to drive a BMW equipped with wireless charging capabilities, it’s wise to exercise caution with this feature. Multiple reports have emerged, indicating that using the wireless charging function in BMW cars could potentially cause NFC chips in the iPhone 15 to malfunction.

In recent weeks, as reported by MacRumors, iPhone 15 users who own BMWs have reported a peculiar issue: the NFC functionality on their iPhones becomes non-functional after recharging their phones using the wireless charging pad within their vehicles.

According to some users, their iPhones have gone into a data recovery mode screen, displaying a white screen just before this problem occurs. Following this, the NFC feature ceases to work, effectively disabling Apple Pay in the process.

For those affected, a message reading “Could Not Set Up Apple Pay” appears after such incidents. Currently, there is no official solution from Apple to address the NFC chip’s malfunction resulting from the use of wireless charging pads in BMW cars.

The specific iPhone 15 models most affected by this issue and which BMW car models may contribute to similar problems remain unclear at this time. Nevertheless, it is advisable to use caution when utilizing a wireless charging pad for your iPhone 15 until more information or a solution becomes available.
